Pila 3 is a sculptural porcelain vase built through a vertical sequence of stacked volumes. The form develops through modular construction, a recurring element in Claudio Campana’s ceramic practice.
Produced through mould-making and slip casting, the piece deliberately preserves the traces of its making. The surface retains the subtle marks and imperfections of the mould, allowing the irregularities of the manual process to become part of the object’s character.
 
Glazed on the interior and left raw on the exterior, the vase highlights the contrast between refinement and material honesty. The stacked structure recalls architectural columns, translating structural language into a contemporary ceramic vessel that sits between functional object and sculptural form.
 
Pila 3 sits comfortably between vessel and sculpture, embodying Campana’s exploration of contemporary Italian ceramic design.
