Italian handmade ceramic vase by Italian ceramic artist Anna Resmini

Useless Vases - Gateau

Anna Resmini

For Resmini, the vessel exists to create space: its purpose lies in the void it contains rather than in use. The piece is defined by a stacked, layered form that recalls the structure of a cake, from which it takes its name. In Resmini’s practice, this vertical rhythm contributes to the overall equilibrium of the object, shaping the void within.

Handmade in red stoneware, the vessel is twice-fired at high temperature and finished with engobes, resulting in a surface that balances material depth with chromatic clarity. Each work is unique and non-repeatable, reflecting the artist’s commitment to small-batch, authentic making and her rejection of standardised production.
