AURES
Limited-Edition Drop by Alice Reina
Concept

The word AURES comes from Latin: it means ears — a reference not just to form, but to attention. These pieces appear to listen. They are still, but full of presence. Fossil-like. Alert.

Inspired by Leo Lionni’s Parallel Botany, AURES imagines a fictional forest of silent species. Each vase is composed of three joined vertical elements, their tops crowned with translucent porcelain lamellae that seem to stir under invisible wind. They do not bloom. They do not wilt. They remain.

The Making

Every piece is built using the "lavorazione a lastra" technique—rolled and shaped by hand from porcelain slabs—and finished with a raw biscuit exterior and a crystalline glazed interior. The lamellae, formed in paper porcelain, are applied individually, one by one.

Available in two sizes—Grande (approx. 37 × 22 × 22 cm) and Piccolo (approx. 32 × 15 × 15 cm)—each work is unique, and part of a numbered, one-time edition.

Origin

Alice Reina created this body of work across the heat-soaked weeks of Summer 2025, in her Turin studio and she is still working on them. The process is slow, nearly meditative. It began with sketches of rhythm and repetition, and took shape through repetition of touch, pressure, adjustment. No two are alike, yet all share a common breath.

“I imagined them as plants from a forest that doesn’t exist.
A fossil garden. Not gone—just waiting.”
— Alice Reina
